How To Fix If Google Chrome is not responding

Fix: Google Chrome is not responding
1. Add Chrome to your firewall exception list

Go to the Search menu > type Windows Firewall > hit Enter
In the left-hand pane, select Allow an app through the Windows Firewall
Click the Change Settings button > select Allow another app
Select Google Chrome  > click Add > OK
2. Clear your DNS cache

Type cmd in the search menu > select Command Prompt > open as administrator
Type the following commands and hit Enter after each one:
ipconfig /flushdns
netsh winsock reset

3. Scan your computer for malware

Use your main antivirus to perform a full system scan. Also, download and install one of these anti-malware tools and run a system scan.

4. Run a SFC scan

Type cmd in the search menu > select Command Prompt > run as administrator
Type  sfc /scannow > hit Enter.
5. Make sure you’re running the latest Chrome version

If you’re using an outdated Chrome version, this may explain why your browser is unresponsive.

Go to the browser’s menu > click Update Google Chrome > click Relaunch
If you don’t see this button, you’re on the latest version.
6. Clear the cache, browsing history and cookies

Open the browser’s menu > go to More tools > select Clear Browsing Data

In the new window, uncheck passwords and content licenses in order to keep this information
Click Clear browsing data
Open the menu again > go to Settings > Show advanced settings > Expand the Privacy section
Select Content settings > change the settings according to your preferences > click All cookies and site data > Remove all.
7. Disable extensions

Sometimes, faulty extensions may cause Google Chrome to become unresponsive. Try disabling all your extensions and then enable them one by one in order to find the culprit.

8. Check the proxy settings

Open the browser’s menu > go to Settings > Advanced settings
Go to Network > select Change proxy settings
Go to the Connections Tab > click LAN Settings
Make sure that the option Automatically detect settings is checked.
9. Reset Google Chrome

Open the browser’s menu > go to Settings > Advanced settings
Scroll down > go to Reset browser settings > click this option
Launch the browser again and see if this action solved the problem.
10. Uninstall and reinstall the browser

This solution actually works for very few users. Moreover, users confirm that the browser becomes unresponsive again after a few days and they need to uninstall and reinstall it all over again.
